They say the truth will set you free. You see, truth is defined as the quality or state of being true. Likewise, an accurate deciphering of the word true is, simply put, in accordance with reality. Now, you may have questions. Why are we determining definitions of truth? Is this for entertainment purposes? Are we building momentum towards spectating some kind of pinnacle in achievement? Will there be a test on this material, later? Well, yes! I want you to understand the nature of faith, especially in yourself, so that you can appreciate instances of wonder. Let me ask you this simple question, my friend: have you witnessed the spectacle titled TRUTH, yet?
Originally hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, and now located in San Francisco, California, auditory engineers Tristan Roake and Andre Fernandez have fostered a loyal following among the electronic community. I know this to be fact, for I was introduced to the sonic stylings of TRUTH through a couple of my closest compatriots, desirous to spread the works of the collective known as Deep, Dark, and Dangerous to all who will listen. This was a prospect that excited me, for darkness and I have a friendship that has stretched far beyond this lifetime. At first, I didn’t quite understand. “You want to share TRUTH with me, through dubstep? Do we not, already do that?” As they looked upon me with scintillating sparkles of grace and admiration in their eyes, I understood their passion as marking another embarkment forwards the musical journey that travels through the very center of my soul.
My introduction to TRUTH came within the last few years. Was I formerly feral? Perhaps. There are those that call me ‘Bear’, and Shambhala confirmed that identity as my spirit animal. However, there is something mysterious about triple D, and before I came near experiencing one of their extraordinary events, something from within the ether reached out towards me. The emblem of a cycloptic octopus caught my eye and spoke to a part of my ancient precursor self, submerged deep within the recesses of this vessel’s inner mettle. Something about that depiction conveys all one really needs to know about TRUTH; a memory towards what we are, from where we have come, and of what we are capable. As a matter of perspective, during my most recent beholding of TRUTH’s sermon’s, their sonic storytelling evoked recollections of a time before humanity. The date? December 30th, 2022. The location? Lake County Fairgrounds, Grayslake, Illinois. A liquid sonic symphony transported me beneath waves where I noted the strength of the bonds that a community creates. Were we once little more than oceanic organisms forming the basic tenets of life that we now congregate to celebrate? Amidst a vast, abyssal body of space, is this what TRUTH, seeks to unveil? Possibly, and merely one of many messages conjured from deep within.
Upcoming on Good Friday, April 7th, 2023, emissaries of the Deep, Dark, and Dangerous descend upon the city of Chicago to extend their aural tentacles. Joining TRUTH at Joe’s Bar on Weed Street are the talents of Jleon, Wraz, and NotLö, with support from Mistah, and amplification through an HSD sound system courtesy of Ronin Productions. This night will prove a cheerful occasion, one of fellowship and friendship between alien, mammalian, robotic, sea, and all creatures alike, regardless of where in evolutionary cycles we find ourselves.
